* Flood Warning for... Western Meriwether County in west central Georgia... Northwestern Fayette County in north central Georgia... South central Douglas County in north central Georgia... Southeastern Heard County in west central Georgia... Troup County in west central Georgia... Coweta County in west central Georgia... Northwestern Clayton County in north central Georgia... Southwestern Fulton County in north central Georgia...

* Until 315 PM EST.

* At 918 AM EST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms with heavy rain moving across parts of west-central Georgia. Two to five inches of rain have fallen. The rain will continue to cause flooding, and several counties have reported roads closed especially in low-lying, flood prone areas. Area creeks and streams will also respond to the heavy rainfall. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 are possible through the morning before rain tapers off.

Instructions:

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
