An attempted armed robbery occurred the morning of 12/31 on the 4300 block of N. Stowell Ave. At approximately 7:10 am, while attempting to back a vehicle out of a driveway, a resident observed a dark green or black older model Toyota 4-door pull onto the driveway behind them blocking them in. A suspect then got out of a rear door of the Toyota and approached the passenger side of the victim's vehicle, opened the door and pointed a semi-auto handgun at the victim, demanding property. The victim refused and the suspect ran back to the Toyota which was last seen westbound on Lake Bluff Blvd.
The suspect was described as a black male, late teens to early 20s, 5'9", 155 lbs. He was last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt. Other occupants of the Toyota were not observed.
The victim was not injured.
