*2nd UPDATE* #LASD Homicide Detectives Make an Arrest in Death Investigation, 8700blk Orange St.unincorp Whittier

Sheriff's Homicide Investigators have made an arrest in their continuing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a person discovered dead in a car parked at a home in the unincorporated area of Whittier last night by deputies who had responded to check on the welfare of a female resident of the home.

Investigators arrested Luis Rey Jimenez-Jimenez (Hispanic male resident of Whittier) and charged him with murder.  He was booked early this morning at Pico Rivera Sheriff's Station where he remains in custody in lieu of two million dollars bail.  He is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Downey Court.

Investigators learned the suspect killed the victim approximately one week ago and concealed her body in the backseat of his car which was discovered parked in the driveway of his home.  The victim, a woman believed to be in her early forties, was found lying across the backseat of the suspect's car. The victim was bound and wrapped in plastic.   She was pronounced dead at the scene.

After examination by investigators from the office of the coroner, it was learned she suffered significant blunt force trauma to her head.  The victim has not yet been identified by the coroner's office but it is believed she is the person the deputies had originally been sent to check the welfare of.  The name of that person is not being released pending the notification of next of kin.
