Advisory

Your not being rude - your just asking questions! Visits from utility or cable workers.

Occasionally, the Sheboygan Police Department receives suspicious complaints in regards to an individual suspected of posing as a municipal utility worker (water, etc.) or cable provider and asking to enter a person's home to check on an item to ensure working correctly.  Residents should not hesitate to ask for identification prior to allowing a person to enter their home and asking for the phone number of the worker's place of business.  In both cases, a legitimate worker will present an ID and encourage the homeowner to call their place of business if suspicious.  If a person is allowed into one's home, it is a good idea to accompany them to the area of concern while also being aware of the security to the rest of your home.  A legitimate utility or cable worker understands your precautions while a person of ill intent quickly decides they have stopped at the wrong house (and leaves)!
