Winter Storm Watch until 12:00PM Saturday

A storm system will bring a period of wintry precipitation starting late Friday afternoon in southeast Missouri and Friday evening in southern Illinois. While mixed precipitation is possible at the onset, a transition to mainly snow is expected through most of Friday night, when the heaviest snow accumulations are forecast. A transition to mainly rain from south to north is forecast Saturday morning as temperatures warm above freezing.

* WHAT...Heavy wet snow possible. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches possible.

* WHERE...Portions of southern Illinois, generally along and north of a line from Anna to Goreville to Harrisburg to Shawneetown.

* WHEN...From Friday evening through Saturday morning.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Plan on slippery road conditions. Continue to monitor later forecasts as adjustments to accumulation amounts are possible.
