A storm system will bring a period of wintry precipitation starting late Friday afternoon in southeast Missouri and Friday evening in southern Illinois. While mixed precipitation is possible at the onset, a transition to mainly snow is expected through most of Friday night, when the heaviest snow accumulations are forecast. A transition to mainly rain from south to north is forecast Saturday morning as temperatures warm above freezing.
