Through the Citizens Police Academy (CPA), the Muskegon Police department has provided the community an opportunity to gain insight of the local criminal justice system for 16 years. The CPA has been instrumental in providing citizen’s a better understanding of the functions of law enforcement; that assist in the alleviation of misconceptions and increase the positive relations between the citizens and police. It’s with the continued commitment of our City and County departments and supporting agencies that this program is embarking on its 36th session, in March.

The department has always been eager to not only provide the community with this opportunity, but also those interested in pursuing a career in Criminal Justice; from law enforcement to probation, and everything in between. This communication is an invitation to you, as well as for those who you may know that you feel would benefit from the Citizen’s Police Academy, as well as those who are just looking to gain more insight on the internal workings of the local criminal justice system.
