Driving Under the Influence/Aggravated Battery

1/07 – 2:35 a.m. – Police stopped a vehicle for disobeying the stop sign/flashing red light, at Washington Street & Jefferson Street. The vehicle travelled through the intersection at a high rate of speed, and the Officer was not able to stop the vehicle till State Route 158, past Besse Lane. He found the driver was suspected of being under the influence. The Officer placed the driver under arrest. While at the police station the suspect kicked the Officer in the stomach and damaged the wall of the police station’s interview room.

The St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office charged the defendant, Kierston L. Dingwell age 21 of Waterloo, with the following:

Count 1: Aggravated Battery (Peace Officer). A Class 2 Criminal Felony; Category A Offense.

Count 2: Criminal Damage to Government Supported Property. A Class 4 Criminal Felony; Category B Offense.

Count 3: Driving Under the Influence. A Class A DUI Traffic Offense.

Her bond was set at $50,000. The Smithton Police Department and St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department assisted in this incident.
