Chula Vista prepares for upcoming rain storms.

Rain is predicted to begin on Thursday and return again on Saturday through Monday. The City of Chula Vista is planning accordingly.

Chula Vista residents may obtain up to 10 free sandbags at the Public Works Center located at 1800 Maxwell Road. Sandbags will be available today through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Proof of residency is required. .

As a reminder to all drivers, if your wipers are on, your headlights must be on. And please do not attempt to drive through flooded areas.

To report any downed trees, flooded streets, or other issues in Chula Vista, please use the ACT system at http://www.chulavistaca.gov/departments/public-works/service-requests, or call Public Works at (619) 397-6000.

Most likely, sports ball fields will be closed for several days once the rain begins. Please visit http://www.chulavistaca.gov/departments/recreation/about-us/sports-athletics for the latest updates on field status.
