2nd Refuse Schedule Change due to inclement weather.
Important Information Regarding Waste and Recycling Collection Services for the City of Wayne
Republic Services has been monitoring this near record setting cold over the past 24 hours.
As the coldest weather in the past 20 years settles into the area, the team at Republic Services has made the decision to suspend Residential Collection Services for second consecutive day on Thursday January 31, 2019. Based on current conditions as well as tomorrow's projections, Republic feels that this weather is not safe for continuous outside exposure.
With this unusual 2-day suspension of services, Republic will not have the ability to catch up on our collection routes by the end of the week.
When collection services resume on Friday February 1, 2019; Republic will service those residents that have a regular Friday collection day. Residents that have a collection day of Wednesday or Thursday are being asked to hold onto their waste/solid waste until their regular collection day next week.
Should a resident have more trash/solid waste than their cart can accommodate, Republic is asking residents to place extra bagged waste/solid waste next to their cart for collection. Drivers will hand pick or reload carts if necessary to handle the extra materials.
Republic continues to remind residents to place carts/items intended for collection in a location that will not interfere with local municipal snow plowing operations. Residents should place carts/items intended for collection in a location that does not interfere with snow plow operations but also can be easily and safely accessed by Republic's drivers. Please make sure that all items intended for collection can be easily identified and accessed from the curb/street.
Again, Republic will be suspending collection service for residential services only on Thursday January 31, 2019.
As a result of the limited exposure for our commercial front load drivers and our industrial roll off drivers, we will resume those operations on Thursday January 31, 2019. Residents may see these trucks on the streets but residents should not expect to see service being provided at residential locations.
For our commercial front load and industrial roll off customers, Republic reminds everyone to please make sure that front load container and roll off containers are clear of snow piles and can be safely / easily accessed. Please remind snow removal crews to not stockpile snow around the containers and enclosures. This may cause a delay in service until the container can be safely and easily accessed.
Our goal is to get all routes completely safely every single day. Obstacles outside our control sometimes alter our plan. Our drivers and management staff are working hard to ensure we make up anything we have missed.
