The Clinton County Sheriff's Office received a report of a phone scam today in which the caller claimed to be with Ameren and the individual contacted had an outstanding balance on their Ameren bill. The caller instructed the individual to call another number and provide credit card information to make a payment / pay the bill. The individual instead called the number on their actual Ameren bill, confirming that it was indeed a scam. It is also a good idea to share information on the different scams out there with friends, family and / or neighbors who may not have access to social media or the internet. Thank you!
