Winter Storm Warning until 10:00PM Monday

A potent area of low pressure will continue to track toward the Bay Area this evening. Snow levels will remain above 5000 feet through tonight. On Sunday and Monday, additional waves of low pressure will pass across northwest California, accompanied by numerous showers and increasingly cold air. Snow levels will fall to around 2500 feet near the Oregon border by Sunday afternoon and continue to drop into the 1000 to 1500 feet range by Monday. Moderate to heavy snow accumulations will occur above 2500 feet Sunday night into Monday. Several inches will be possible above 1500 feet by late Monday across northern Trinity, Humboldt, and Del Norte counties.

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Plan on difficult travel conditions. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 8 inches, with localized amounts up to 17 inches, are expected.

* WHERE...Southern Humboldt Interior, Southern Trinity, Northwestern Mendocino Interior and Northeastern Mendocino County Interior. Highways impacted include Highway 3 north of Weaverville and at Hayfork Summit, Highway 36 at South Fork Mountain and points east.

* WHEN...10 PM Sunday to 10 PM Monday.
