INCIDENT: FATAL TRAFFIC COLLISION

LOCATION: BEAR VALLEY ROAD / JOSHUA ROAD, APPLE VALLEY

SUSPECT(S): NONE

VICTIM(S): CONFIDENTIAL PENDING NEXT OF KIN NOTIFICATION


SUMMARY:
On February 3, 2019, at about 7:23 pm, a red Dodge Ram pick-up truck was traveling east on Bear Valley Road, approaching the intersection of Joshua Road in the Town of Apple Valley. A silver Chevrolet Malibu was traveling slowly on the shoulder of the eastbound lane of Bear Valley Road ahead of the truck. As the truck approached the Malibu, for unknown reasons, the driver of the Malibu made a u-turn into the roadway in front of the truck. The driver of the truck was unable to stop in time and collided into the driver's side of the Malibu. The female driver of the Malibu sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics on scene. The passenger of the Malibu declined medical treatment at the scene and the driver of the truck was transported to St. Mary Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. A preliminary investigation indicated the deceased driver is at fault in this collision and her identity is being withheld pending notification of the next-of-kin.
