The National Weather Service in St Louis has issued a
* Flood Warning for... Clinton County in south central Illinois... Northeastern Washington County in south central Illinois... Marion County in south central Illinois...
* Until 1100 AM CST.
* At 502 AM CST, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain which will cause flooding. Between one and two inches of rain has already fallen.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include... Centralia, Salem, Breese, Carlyle, Nashville, Okawville, Sandoval, Germantown, Wamac, Central City, Odin, Beckemeyer, Kinmundy, Irvington, Patoka, Farina, Omega, Stephen Forbes Station, Fairman and Boulder. This includes the following highways... Interstate 57 in Illinois between exits 116 and 127. Interstate 64 in Illinois between exits 41 and 61. This also includes Carlyle Lake Recreational Area.
* AFFECTED AREAS: CLINTON, IL ... MARION, IL ... WASHINGTON, IL
Instructions:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying spots.
