New Milpitas PD K9 Hits The Streets - K9 Kona
We kicked off the week introducing you to Ty, one of our new K9s. Today, we’d like to introduce you to another one of our new police dogs…Kona.
Kona is a 1-1/2 year old female German Shepherd and was born in Slovakia on March 1, 2017. As a puppy, Kona dreamed of being a police dog. Kona left her home and travelled to the Netherlands to pursue her dream of becoming a police dog. Along the way, she met Ty and the two became friends. When Kona arrived in the U.S., she met her new best friend, Officer Mansky. Together the two worked hard, graduated from their school, and now patrol the streets of Milpitas. When Kona is not working, she likes to run, play with her ball, and stick her tongue out. Kona is the second female police dog in the department’s history.
Officer Mansky has been a Police Officer with the Milpitas Police Department since December 2013 and is currently assigned to the Patrol Services Division. Officer Mansky is also part of the Crisis Negotiations Team and the Recruitment Team. When Officer Mansky is not at work, she enjoys playing soccer, camping, and spending time with her family.
Our third new K9 is currently attending police dog school with his handler, Officer Brasil. In the upcoming weeks we will introduce you to K9 Nitro.
