Homicide & Crimes Against Children Detectives arrest Alfonso Ornelas following the death of his 6 month old child

LOCATION: 35000 block of Persimmon Ave., Yucaipa
VICTIM: 6-month-old female
SUSPECT: Alfonso Ornelas, 28 years old, resident of Yucaipa
SUMMARY:
On Saturday, February 16, 2019, at approximately 11:44 a.m., Yucaipa deputies responded to a medical aid call with a six-month old child not breathing. A deputy arrived and began lifesaving measures until medical aid arrived. The baby was transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center and doctors continued lifesaving measures until she was pronounced deceased at 6:41 p.m.
Detectives with the Crimes Against Children and Homicide Detail responded to conduct the investigation. Following their investigation, the baby’s father, Alfonso Ornelas was arrested for Murder and Assault on a child causing great bodily injury/death. No other details are being released at this time.
