Fatal Traffic Collision on Highway 12
On February 19 at 12:49 AM a Solano County Sheriff’s Deputy came upon a vehicle collision on westbound SR12 at Beck Ave in the City of Fairfield. Two vehicles, a passenger car and a sport utility vehicle, were involved. The passenger car caught fire.
A passing citizen stopped and assisted the Deputy and Fairfield Officers as they tried to extinguish the vehicle fire and remove two occupants from the car. The occupants of the car and the solo occupant of the sport utility vehicle were all transported to local trauma centers with serious injuries. Despite life-saving efforts, a 62 year old male passenger in the car died from injuries he received during this collision.
The Fairfield Police Major Accident Investigations Team (MAIT) responded and investigated the collision, causing SR12 to be closed for several hours. It has not been determined what the cause of the collision is yet. MAIT is still investigating to determine if DUI was a factor.
All roads have been cleared and reopen for traffic.
Investigators ask that anyone who may have witnessed this collision contact the Fairfield Police Traffic Unit at (707)428-7524.
