Advisory

Hazardous Weather Outlook National Weather Service Topeka KS Brown County

This hazardous weather outlook is for east central...north
central and northeast Kansas.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.
Patchy freezing drizzle or rain may be possible into late
afternoon through the overnight hours mainly along and north of the
Highway 36 corridor. There is a low chance that a light glaze of
ice could form mainly on untreated surfaces.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday.
A potentially major winter storm could affect portions of the
region on Saturday. Heavy snow will be possible Saturday
afternoon and evening, especially across parts of north-central
and northeast Kansas, which could combine with strong winds to
produce significant blowing and drifting snow. Blizzard
conditions will be possible, and dangerous travel conditions may
occur. The greatest chance for the most dangerous winter-weather
conditions will be along and northwest of a line from Council
Grove to Hiawatha, where a Winter Storm Watch is in effect.
Elsewhere, the potential for snow and strong winds will exist,
though snowfall accumulations are presently forecast to be lower.
