Traffic Alert
NJDOT has scheduled the immediate resurfacing of portions of US Route 206 and NJ 27 (Nassau Street) tonight, (2/27) and likely tomorrow night 2/28). This emergent street resurfacing is needed to address some very poor pavement conditions in Princeton.
This milling, paving, and temporary striping work will be a moving operation from 9 pm to 8 am, with alternating traffic by flaggers. Tonight, the NJDOT contractor will begin work at the intersection of Elm Road and Route 206.They will then move between University Place and Harrison Street. NJDOT estimates that NJ 27 work may begin around 12 midnight. Most of the work takes place in the northbound lane, excluding the parking lane, and intersections. Provided below is an incomplete list of the work areas available at this time.:
• Northbound lane of NJ 27 at:
o University – Chambers
o Palmer Square East
o Hamilton Jewelers – Princeton University Store
o 30 Burgers – Triumph
o NY Camera – past Thomas Sweets
o 315 Nassau through Harrison Street intersection
• Washington Road intersection
• Linden Lane intersection
• Southbound lane of NJ 27 at:
o Harrison – Evelyn
The contractor will install temporary striping, including crosswalks. Permanent striping will not be installed for at least 14 days; salt and brine applications will delay permanent striping installations.
