Around 2:20 this afternoon a black male standing around 5-9 and weighing between 145 to 150 pounds entered the South State Bank at 21979 Whyte Hardee Boulevard. He was brandishing a gun and exited the bank with an undisclosed amount of money.  A Hardeeville police officer spotted the suspect leaving the bank and a chase ensued. The suspect drove onto Interstate 95 heading south and wrecked his vehicle at the 109 marker in Georgia. He is being held in the Chatham County Jail awaiting an extradition hearing.

Several agencies helped in the  pursuit and capture of the suspect. They include the Hardeeville Police Department, Chatham County Sheriff’s  Office, Port Wentworth Police, The Georgia State Patrol and The Jasper County Sheriff’s office. Hardeeville Police are working with the FBI to continue the investigation.
