The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is currently taking applications for Merited Deputy Sheriff. Individuals interested in a professional, rewarding career in law enforcement are encouraged to apply.
The orientation, physical agility test and written exam will take place on April 20, 2019.
Check in will begin at 8:00 a.m. and the orientation will begin at 9:00 a.m.
The exam will take place at Woodstock North High School, 3000 Raffel Road, Woodstock, Illinois. You will be required to show a State issued photo ID to check in. If you are planning on testing with us, you must submit your application, $25.00 non-refundable application fee (checks made payable to County of McHenry), and required paperwork by 4:30 p.m. March 29, 2019. DOCUMENTS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AT THE EXAM.
Applications for Sheriff’s deputies can be found at www.mchenrysheriff.org. The minimum qualifications to apply are:
• Applicant must be 21 years of age at hiring.
• Applicant must be a high school graduate or have a GED.
• Applicant must be a United States Citizen.
• Applicant must possess a valid driver's license.
• Applicant must live in McHenry County or any bordering Illinois county, within one year of hiring.
Currently, starting deputy’s salary is $29.80/ hour, with paid holidays, paid vacation time and options for major medical insurance.
