Dear Residents / Businesses of Smith Addition, Gravel Road, Forest Avenue:
The newest flood forecast shows the Minnesota River reaching a gauge reading of 18 feet by Tuesday March 26th and 20 feet by Friday March 29th. The following actions will take place at the level as indicated:
1. Sanitary sewer is shut down at 18 – 18.5 feet in Smith Addition. At some point the gas and electric companies may pull meters as well.
2. River Road will be closed this weekend.
3. Town Road, Chippewa Street, And Forest Avenue may have water access issues by Friday, and other streets in Smith Addition may begin to have issues as well.
4. Gravel Road may have seepage problems by next weekend.
It could get worse, and the peak will likely be reached sometime after next weekend and could go to historic levels.
By Monday the city will have available some sand bags for private use.
