A Wilmington Police investigation has resulted in two arrests in connection with a November burglary.

On November 10, 2018 at approximately 9 p.m., police responded to the 900 block of Blackshire Road in connection with a burglary report. A victim there reported that two bicycles and one specialty bicycle were stolen from an attached garage.

On the same date, patrol officers had observed 22-year-old Victor Torres operating one of the bicycles taken in the burglary. Torres was interviewed, and stated that he had purchased the bicycle from juveniles in the area of 4th and Franklin Streets. The bicycle was recovered and returned to the owner, and Torres was released pending further investigation.

The investigation continued and Detective Joseph Wicks was assigned the case. Arrest warrants were later secured for Torres, and on March 5, members of the WPD Criminal Investigations Division executed a search warrant in the unit block of South Harrison Street, where the second bicycle was located.

As the investigation continued, 18-year-old Enrique Rodriguez was identified as a second suspect. On March 22, investigators executed a search warrant in the 800 block of West 7th Street, where they took Rodriguez into custody. Rodriguez subsequently confessed to participating in the November 10 burglary, and has been charged with the following:

  • Burglary (Third Degree)

  • Conspiracy (Second Degree)
  • Criminal Mischief
Rodriguez was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 20 and was released on $8,000 unsecured bail.
