A suspect wanted for an attempt murder was identified and arrested

LOCATION: 17900 Block of San Bernardino Avenue, Bloomington
VICTIM: Confidential
SUSPECT: Robert “PeeWee” Villareal, 41 years old, resident of Colton
SUMMARY:
On Tuesday, March 5, 2018, at 2:09 p.m., deputies from the Fontana Sheriff’s Station responded to the 17900 block of San Bernardino Avenue in Bloomington in response to a shooting victim. When deputies arrived, they located the victim who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Following an investigation, it was determined the victim was inside of an abandoned convalescent building and was shot multiple times by the suspect. Through further investigation, investigators identified the shooter as Robert Villareal, and issued a warrant for his arrest.
On Monday, March 25, 2019 at 2:53 p.m., Deputy Manuel Tristan from Central Station conducted a check of two suspicious persons suspected of narcotics activity. When Tristan approached the two, one of the subjects fled the scene. After a brief chase, Tristan located and detained the subject identified as Robert Villareal. Villareal had two active felony warrants, one for attempted murder with a firearm, and one for a probation violation. Deputies conducted a search within proximity of Villareal’s apprehension and located a loaded handgun, suspected of being used during the attempted murder. Villareal was also in possession of handgun ammunition.
Villareal was transported to the Fontana Sheriff’s Station where he was interviewed and subsequently arrested. Villareal was transported to West Valley Detention Center and booked for attempted murder.
