The Columbia Township Police Department is currently investigating a motor vehicle crash that heavily damaged the Lake Columbia Property Owners Association restroom at the park at Southern Shores and Victoria.

The incident occurred at approximately 4:37 P.M. on Friday, March 29, 2019. The driver (and only occupant) of a 2009 Kia Rio was dealing with personal issues, and would later advise that he took out his anger by intentionally ramming his vehicle into the building.

Damage to the (unoccupied) LCPOA restroom is estimated to be in excess of $50,000.00. The vehicle was also heavily damaged (not drivable).

The driver of the vehicle, a 21 year-old male from Adrian, was not injured, but was transported to Henry Ford Allegiance for an evaluation.

Upon completion of the report, it will be sent to the Jackson County Prosecutor’s office for review of charges of reckless driving and malicious destruction of property.
