More information from the morning accident on I-27

On April 7, 2019 at 10:50 AM, an APD officer drove up on a major motor vehicle collision in the 3300 block of South I-27.  A 2003 Ford Taurus, driven by a 21 year old female, was in the left lane stopped due to a flat tire.  The Ford was rear ended by 2014 Hyundai Sante Fe driven by a 28 year old female.  The Hyundai spun after the collision and was then struck head on by a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 24 year old female.  A 2 month old child passenger in the Taurus was taken to a local area hospital with life threatening injuries.  Another small child and a 19 year old male from the Taurus were taken to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  The driver of the Santa Fe and three children who were passengers were taken to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  The driver of the Silverado and her passenger, a 23 year old male, were uninjured.  The incident is under investigation by the Traffic Investigation Squad of the Amarillo Police Department.
