Homicide Detectives are investigating an attempt murder and fatal shooting in Bloomington 
DATE/TIME: Saturday, April 6, 2019 9:12 p.m.
INCIDENT: Attempt Murder/Homicide Investigation
LOCATION: 9800 block of Magnolia Street, Bloomington
SUSPECT: Israel Miranda Jr., 28 years old, resident of Bloomington (deceased)
VICTIM(S): Humberto Miranda, 26 years old, resident of Fontana
Sergio Miranda, 24 years old, resident of Bloomington
SUMMARY:
On Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 9:12 p.m. Fontana Station deputies responded to calls of shots heard in the area of Magnolia Street and Marygold Avenue. An additional call was received that someone had been shot at a residence in the 9800 block of Magnolia Street. Deputies arrived and found numerous people in the front yard of the home, including Israel Miranda who was suffering from gunshot wounds. Israel was transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. A male victim, later identified as Sergio Miranda, was found with a laceration to his hand and refused treatment at the scene.
Investigators from the Homicide Detail were requested to conduct the investigation and learned that Israel was on active parole and had a history of violence. Investigators determined there was a family party and an argument ensued between several family members in the front yard of the home. During the argument, Israel armed himself with a knife and assaulted family members. During the assault, Humberto Miranda, who is Israel’s brother and an off-duty deputy sheriff with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, shot Israel.
The investigation will be submitted to the District Attorney’s Office for review.
