Police Charge Juvenile with Attempted Murder in Shooting Investigation
 
Jackson police have charged a 14-year-old male with Attempted First-Degree Murder in a shooting investigation. On April 3, 2019, around 9:15 p.m., Officers responded to a shots fired call in the 100 block of Rhea Street off E. Chester Street.

Shortly afterward, an 18-year-old Covington man arrived at a local hospital by private vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds. He was later transferred to a Memphis hospital.

Based on information from the investigation, the suspect approached the victim on Rhea Street and shot him multiple times. Investigators identified the suspect and police began searching for him. The suspect surrendered to police on April 5. He is being held at a juvenile detention facility and awaits a detention hearing in Madison County Juvenile Court.

The victim remains in a Memphis hospital in critical condition.
