When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.


Notable Cases

On Tuesday, 04-02-19 at 2:28 p.m., officers were dispatched to the parking lot of JC Penney’s on a report of two subjects looking into parked vehicles. One of the suspects was reported to be carrying a bag containing tools. Officer Herrera arrived and contacted the subjects matching the description who were standing by a vehicle. While waiting for cover officers to arrive, Officer Herrera saw bags next to the vehicle. These bags were deemed to be property stolen from four vehicles in the parking lot. The two subjects, an 18-year old female from Oakley and a 19-year old male from Antioch, were arrested for four counts of vehicle burglary, four counts of possession of stolen property, and four counts of conspiracy to commit a crime.

On Wednesday, 04-03-19 at 8:17 p.m., following a traffic enforcement stop in the Serramonte Shopping Center parking lot, Officer Covarrubias arrested three female subjects (18 and two 19-year old San Francisco residents) for organized retail theft, grand theft, and for possession of burglary tools. The three female subjects were positively identified as suspects to a theft that occurred at the Sephora store approximately 30 minutes prior. The subjects were also found to be in possession of multiple items of stolen merchandise from several stores inside the shopping center.

On Wednesday, 04-03-19 at 11:10 p.m., Officer McCarthy and Officer Moody were on patrol in the area of Crocker Avenue and Irvington Street and contacted a subject siting in a vehicle that was blocking the driveway on the 300 block of Irvington Street. As the officers approached the subject in the vehicle, they saw the subject quickly place something in his pocket and quickly close his door. The officers asked the subject if had anything illegal on him, and the subject said he did not. The officers noticed the subject was extremely nervous, sweating and swaying from side to side. When the officers started patting down the subject, they said he became more nervous. The officers found narcotics on the subject’s person, as well as a Smith & Wesson ten round magazine under the subject’s shirt, and a Smith & Wesson handgun under his shirt on the other side of him. The officers arrested the subject, a 52-year old San Francisco resident, for being in possession of a controlled substance while armed, carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle, carrying a concealed firearm on his person and for being in possession of a controlled substance.

On Sunday, 04-07-19 at 9:41 p.m., Officer Collins was dispatched to the unit block of Northgate Court on a welfare check of a subject who called 911 but wouldn’t answer the dispatcher’s questions. The dispatcher advised the officer that it sounded like the subject was on foot as he was calling. The subject ran into the kitchen of the Original Joe’s of Westlake and appeared scared and paranoid. A restaurant employee believed the subject may have been under the influence of a drug as he was not acting normally. Other officers responded to the restaurant and tried to get the subject to leave, and the subject became combative. The subject, a 39-year old Daly City resident, was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance and for resisting/obstructing a peace officer.


Robberies

There no robberies and two attempted robberies during the past week.

On Tuesday, 04-02-19 at 8:13 p.m., a 20-year old Daly City resident reported he was the victim of an attempted robbery by three juvenile suspects who struck him with their fists in an attempt to steal the cell phone he had in his hand. The victim said was walking on the 400 block of Winchester Street when he saw a subject standing in front of him on the sidewalk. The victim said the subject called him a name and told him to give him his phone. The victim said he turned to run away, but he saw two other subjects standing behind him. The victim said suddenly the first subject hit him the face, causing him to fall against a parked vehicle. The victim said the other two suspects struck him and attempted to take the phone from his hands. The victim said he fell to the concrete and attempted to protect himself and maintain control of his phone. The victim yelled, and he said after approximately 10-20 seconds, all suspects fled westbound on Winchester Street towards Crocker Avenue. The victim described all three subjects as Filipino or other Asian males, 10-15 years old, all 5’3”, 100 lbs. The victim suffered a cut lip and abrasions to his hands.

On Friday, 04-05-19 at 9:10 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Hillcrest Drive on a report of a robbery with a gun that occurred ten minutes prior to the victim’s call. The victim, a 43-year old pizza delivery driver from San Francisco, said he delivered an order to a customer, and after he dropped off the order, he got into his vehicle. The victim said a suspect approached his window which was rolled down a few inches. The victim said the suspect was holding a small dark-colored handgun and pointed it at him, telling him to give him his wallet and to step out of the car. The victim said a second suspect opened the front passenger door and sat in the vehicle for a couple of seconds and told the victim to get out of the car. The victim said the second suspect exited the car, and the victim accelerated away east on Hillcrest Drive. The victim described the first suspect as a Hispanic male, approximately 25-30 years old, 5’9”, wearing a black beanie and dark colored hoodie. The victim described the second suspect as a Hispanic male, approximately 25-30- years old, 5’9”, goatee, and wearing a black beanie, black hoodie and dark blue jeans.


Residential Burglaries

There were two residential burglaries during the past week.

On Tuesday, 04-02-19 at approximately 10:23 p.m., a 33-year old San Francisco resident entered an “Air bnb” residence on the 100 block of Hillcrest Drive and went into two rented rooms. The suspect was still on the premises and was arrested for residential burglary. A charge of bringing a controlled substance to jail was also added once the booking deputy saw a baggie of suspected methamphetamine fall out of the suspect’s pants.

On Wednesday, 04-03-19 at 11:52 a.m., officers were dispatched to a residence on the 300 block of Ardendale Street on a report of an audible residential burglary alarm sounding. The suspects pried the front gate and the front door to enter the residence. The officers initially found the alarm control panel missing from the wall, and located it in the toilet bowl, immersed in water. The suspects ransacked the bedrooms and took $4,000 from a nightstand drawer. This investigation is continuing.


Commercial Burglaries

There were three commercial burglaries during the past week.

On Monday, 04-01-19 between 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., an unknown suspect broke the lock off of a locker in the women’s locker room at the 24-Hour Fitness facility and stole a Prada purse containing cash, driver's license, credit cards, a diamond ring, gold bracelet, gold necklace, keys and clothing. Some clothing was recovered in the locker room. This investigation is continuing.

On Friday, 04-05-19 at approximately 8:35 p.m., two unknown subjects entered the AT&T store and stole two iPad Pros and an iPhone X and fled the store. This investigation is continuing.


Between 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, 04-06-19 and 12:50 a.m. on Sunday, 04-07-19, an unknown suspect stole two wallets from a locker in the men’s locker room at the 24-Hour Fitness facility. The victims placed a combination lock onto a locker that they shared. The victims returned and said the lock was still on the locker, but their wallets were missing. The victims were notified that their credit cards were used at two Walgreen’s stores in South San Francisco. This investigation is continuing.



Vehicle Burglaries

There were nine vehicle burglaries during the past week.

• Serramonte Shopping Center parking structure (3rd floor)—a backpack containing a wallet with credit cards and $200 in foreign currency and a jacket was taken from the floorboard of a 2018 BMW X2. The right front and right rear windows were smashed. Occurred on 04-01-19 between 9:20 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.
• Serramonte Shopping Center parking lot #4—a purse containing magazines, yarn and snacks was taken from the rear passenger floorboard of a 2016 Toyota RAV4. The rear passenger window was smashed. Occurred on 04-02-19 between 2:10 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. **Two subjects were arrested.
• Serramonte Shopping Center parking lot near Party City—a lunch bag containing food and work identification was taken from the passenger floorboard of a 2004 Toyota Sienna. The rear passenger window was smashed. Occurred on 04-02-19 between 2:15 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. **Two subjects were arrested.
• Serramonte Shopping Center parking lot near Party City—a lunchbox containing lunch was taken from a 2013 Ford Flex. The left rear window was smashed. Occurred on 04-02-19 between 2:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. **Two subjects were arrested.
• Serramonte Shopping Center parking lot near Nordstrom Rack—a bag containing three bowling balls and bowling shoes was taken from a 2010 Kia. The rear window was smashed. Occurred on 04-02-19 at 2:28 p.m. **Two subjects were arrested.
• In N Out Restaurant parking lot (Washington Street)—a Tumi backpack containing a Lenovo laptop, reading glasses, keys, Rayban sunglasses, and work identification was taken from a 2011 Porsche Cayenne. The left rear window was smashed. Occurred on 04-04-19 between 8:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
• In N Out Restaurant parking lot (Washington Street)—a Fossil purse containing medication, an iPad, make up bag, Quay sunglasses, a scarf and a credit card tile was taken from a 2012 Nissan Murano. The left rear window was smashed. Occurred on 04-04-19 between 8:15 p.m. and 9:00 a.m.
• Driveway on the 400 block of Bonnie Street—a clarinet, 40 bottles of water (yes) and a package of baby wipes was taken from a 2000 Honda Odyssey. The method of entry is unknown. Occurred between 6:00 p.m. on 04-04-19 and 7:00 a.m. on 04-05-19.
• Driveway on the 300 block of East Moltke Street—a package of cigarettes and a wallet containing $10, identification and credit cards was taken from the driver’s door pocket of a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado. The method of entry is unknown. Occurred between 8:00 p.m. on 04-04-19 and 5:00 a.m. on 04-05-19.



Stolen Vehicles

There were five vehicles stolen during the past week.

• Eastmoor Avenue/Mirada Avenue—a 1999 Honda CRV. Occurred between 6:00 p.m. on 04-01-19 and 8:30 a.m. on 04-02-19.
• Callan Boulevard/Clarinada Avenue—a 1995 Honda Civic. Occurred between 11:00 p.m. on 04-01-19 and 6:00 a.m. on 04-02-19.
• 300 block of East Moltke Street—a 2016 Toyota Camry. Occurred on 04-05-19 between 3:00 a.m. and 6:30 a.m.
• Callan Boulevard/Clarinada Avenue—a 1999 Honda Accord. Occurred between 9:30 a.m. on 04-05-19 and 10:30 a.m. on 04-07-19.
• Schwerin Street/Otillia Street—a 1997 Honda CRV. Occurred between 10:30 p.m. on 04-06-19 and 6:30 p.m. on 04-07-19.


Miscellaneous

• There were 7 domestic disturbance cases reported
• There were 7 shoplifting incidents reported
• There were 10 cases involving an involuntary psychiatric hold
• There were 8 malicious mischief/vandalism case reported
• There were 5 arrests for public intoxication
• There were no hit and run collisions reported
• There were 5 “boots” placed on cars for unpaid parking tickets
