Flood Warning
Description: The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a
Flood Warning for,
Central Habersham County in northeastern Georgia,
Southwestern Rabun County in northeastern Georgia,
Until 12:15AM EDT Saturday.
At 6:13PM EDT, Excessive runoff from early very heavy rainfall
will continue to flow through the Georgia Power lakes this
evening .
Lingering excessive runoff and flood conditions will
continue across the Soque River as well.
Releases out of the Tallulah River lakes may flood select roads
downstream, especially Shady Lane and Mathis Dam Road.
Residents are reminded to be wary of water covered roads.
Some locations that will experience flooding include,
Clarkesville, Tallulah Falls, Lake Rabun, Lake Burton, Lakemont,
Tallulah Gorge State Park, Hollywood, Seed Lake, Turnerville and
Batesville.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS,
Numerous roads, parking lots and bridges will be threatened by heavy
rain and rapidly rising streams and creeks .
Please pay close
attention to road signs indicating a flood-prone area .
Obey all
barricades, even if water is not currently over the road .
Barricades
are in place for your protection and indicate areas where flooding
can occur rapidly and without warning.
