A strong cold front will cross the area Friday afternoon. Behind this front winds are expected to increase rapidly from the northwest and remain very gusty through Saturday morning. The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a Wind Advisory, which is in effect from noon Friday to noon EDT Saturday.
* Winds...Northwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.
* Timing...Early afternoon Friday through late morning Saturday.
* Impacts...Some downed trees, tree limbs, and power lines, also potentially difficult driving conditions for those in high profile vehicles.
* Locations...Areas along and west of the crest of the Blue Ridge in Virginia, and all of southeast West Virginia.
* Hazards...Very strong winds and wind gusts.

A Wind Advisory is issued when sustained winds are forecast to be 31 to 39 MPH or gusts will range between 46 and 57 MPH. Winds of these magnitudes may cause minor property damage without extra precautions. Motorists in high profile vehicles should use extra caution until the winds subside.
