Fatal Traffic Collision
On Saturday, April 27, 2019, at approximately 9:35 AM, Torrance Police Officers responded to the intersection of Sepulveda Boulevard and Kent Avenue regarding a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a motorcycle.
The preliminary investigation reveals the lone driver of a 2016 Ford Fusion was exiting south from the service road of the 4000 block of Sepulveda Boulevard across from the intersection of Sepulveda Boulevard and Kent Avenue. The Ford Fusion made a left turn, crossing the path of a motorcycle travelling west on Sepulveda Boulevard, subsequently causing the motorcyclist to collide into the vehicle.
The motorcyclist, a 31-year-old male, sustained major injuries and was treated by Torrance Fire Department personnel at the scene. The motorcyclist was ultimately transported to a local hospital, but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. The identity of the motorcyclist is being withheld pending notification to a next of kin.
The driver of the Ford Fusion, a 21-year-old female resident of Torrance, suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene. Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in this collision.
The intersection of Sepulveda Boulevard and Kent Avenue was temporarily closed for 2 ½ hours during the follow-up investigation.
