At 5:55am on April 30, 2019, Sonoma County Fire District firefighters were dispatched to multiple 911 calls reporting a house fire on Sunray Lane in Windsor. The fire was in a single-story house. The house was 50% involved in fire when the first firefighters arrived. There were 8 occupants in the house at the time of the fire.
A smoke alarm woke them where they discovered the front living room area fully engulfed in fire. They were able to exit the home. A 72-year-old male occupant went back inside to ensure the family had all escaped. He suffered first and second degree burns and was transported to a local hospital by Bells Ambulance Paramedics.
Fire, heat, and smoke destroyed much of the interior of the home. The quick work of the responding Firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to adjacent homes.
A fire investigation team will be at the scene to investigate the specific cause of the fire.
Red Cross is providing shelter for the displaced occupants.
