The National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac has issued a
* Flood Warning for Urban Areas and Small Streams in... Southern Wayne County in southeastern Michigan...
* Until 1245 PM EDT Wednesday.
* At 640 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated that up to three inches of rain had fallen overnight. Flooding is occurring.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include... Taylor, Romulus, Flat Rock, Downtown Detroit, Canton, Dearborn, Wyandotte, Trenton, Grosse Ile, Belleville, Greenfield Village, Westland, Dearborn Heights, Lincoln Park, Southgate, Allen Park, Garden City, Inkster, Wayne and Woodhaven.
* Rapid rises in area rivers and streams are currently ongoing, particularly for Ecorse Creek at Dearborn Heights.
* Multiple lane closures are being reported on area highways, including I 94, I 96 and M 10.
* AFFECTED AREAS: WAYNE, MI
Instructions:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall has caused flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
