Employee of Month
Jackson Police Sergeant, Rochelle Staten, is "Employee of the Month" for the month of May. Sergeant Staten has fourteen years of law enforcement experience and is currently assigned to the Patrol Division.
Sergeant Staten has been in law enforcement for over eighteen years. She has worked as correctional officer for Northwest Correctional Complex in Tiptonville, TN. After that assignment, she became a Police Officer/Investigator with the Domestic Abuse Unit for Dyersburg Police Department. Now, she is a Sergeant here at the Jackson Police Department. Her hard work has been paying off throughout her career.
Sergeant Staten is a no nonsense, tell it like it is type of supervisor. She has a great attitude. She is a front line sergeant that officers want to be around. Sergeant Staten has earned the respect of her officers because, when the going gets tough, she is there. Her experience, knowledge and unwavering great attitude contribute to the overall effectiveness of the department. She is also highly respected by the civilians in the community.
Sergeant Staten is a mother to two sons and a loving "glam-mother" to her four grandchildren. She is an active member of New Saint Luke Baptist Church. She volunteers her time speaking to troubled children within the community. This includes kids who attend the Boys and Girls Club. Sergeant Staten is very health conscious. She became a professional body-builder last year winning various competitions and putting young people to shame.
