Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports that on 04/23/2019 at 9:29 P.M. his office was called to investigate a robbery that had just happened at the Sunrise Liquor store in the 1000 Block of Huntly Road located in Howard Township, Cass County, Michigan. Deputies arrived on scene and spoke to the employee that was working at the time of the incident. The employee advised three subjects with their faces covered entered the store and began physically assaulting him forcing him to open the cash drawer. The employee described the suspects as one medium build black male and two medium build black females. The subjects then left the store in an unknown direction. The Employee was injured in the assault and was treated for his injuries by Howard Township First Responders, SMACAS Ambulance and then went to Niles Lakeland Hospital for treatment. Cass County K9 Unit was requested to respond to attempt to locate the subjects. The K9 Unit did locate evidence pertaining to the incident along the track but the subjects were not located. Cass County Sheriffs Office was assisted by Michigan State Police, Niles City Police and the Cass County Drug Enforcement Team.

Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports his office has an update to the robbery that took place at the Sunrise Corners Party Store that occurred on 04-23-19. The store had three suspects enter the store and assault the employee. The suspects then took money out of the cash resister and fled. The suspects arrested are. Bernard Gaston (40) from Niles, Tajah Martin (21) of Niles and the third suspect has warrants issued and is currently in the Berrien County Jail on unrelated charges. Both Bernard Gaston and Tajah Martin have been arraigned in Cass County.
