April 26th

Stolen Vehicle Recovery -6801 Fairmount Ave.:
A Community Service Officer reports the recovery of a 1994 Ford Ranger pickup stolen from Vacaville. The truck was located in Fairfield by an employee, who then had the vehicle towed to El Cerrito for repairs without contacting Fairfield PD. El Cerrito PD took the recovery report as a courtesy.

April 28th

Warrant – San Pablo Avenue at Wall Avenue:
An officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle and arrested a 41-year-old man from Martinez on an outstanding Placer County Warrant. The man was booked at the ECPD and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Warrant – San Pablo Avenue at Stockton Avenue:
An officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle and arrested a 43-year-old man from El Cerrito for an outstanding Marin County Warrant. He was booked at the ECPD and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

April 29th

Hit and Run Collision, Brandishing a Weapon –San Pablo Ave at Fairmount Ave:
At 6:13 pm, an officer reports the victim’s vehicle was involved in a collision with another car and both drivers pulled off the roadway. When the victim attempted to contact the driver of the other vehicle, the other driver pointed a handgun at the victim before driving off.

Identity Theft – 6900 block of Fairview Dr:
At 6:30 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect used the victim’s personal identifying information to obtain several credit cards in the victim’s name.

Criminal Threats – 11344 San Pablo Ave (Denny’s):
At 4:06 am, officers contacted a 26-year-old woman after she confronted staff inside the business with a sword. The woman was arrested and later transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Grand Theft – 1500 block of Norvell St.
At 8:28 am, the victim’s ex-boyfriend, a 44-year-old male from Fremont, may have stolen approximately $3500.00 worth of miscellaneous items from the residence. Before their break up, the victim gave the suspect a set of keys to the home.

Auto Burglary – 9895 San Pablo Ave (Peet’s Coffee)
At 9:18 am, an unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger window of the victim’s vehicle and removed a backpack containing clothing. The burglary occurred between 4:30 am to 9:15 am.

April 30th

Grand Theft – 11565 San Pablo Ave (Walgreens):
At 7:50 pm, an officer reports that two women entered the business and stole over $1000 worth of cosmetics.

Felony battery – 11450 San Pablo Ave (Safeway):
At 11:09 pm, an officer reports the victim was assaulted by two unknown men in the parking lot of the business. The victim suffered a facial injury and was transported to the hospital for medical attention.

May 1st

Residential Burglary and Arrest for a Parole Violation – 7700 block of Cutting Blvd.
At 10:54 am, an officer located a suspicious vehicle parked in front of a residence. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle as it left the residence, but the vehicle fled northbound on Arlington Blvd towards Barrett Ave., eluding the officer. The officer immediately returned to the area of Arlington Blvd at Harvard St. and located a male, loitering in the area. Upon contacting him, the male ran away from the officer westbound on Lagunitas Ave. The officer chased the suspect on foot but lost sight of him in the area of Lagunitas Ave at Tamalpais Ave.
Detectives also responded to the area and detained a 24-year-old male from Antioch walking southbound on Arlington Blvd towards Barrett Ave. The male was found to be on parole for burglary. An officer placed the man under arrest, booked him at the El Cerrito Police Department, and then transported him to the Martinez Detention Facility.
During the investigation, officers located a shattered rear sliding glass door to a residence in the 7700 block of Cutting Blvd. With the assistance of a Richmond Police Department K9 officer, an interior search of the residence was conducted, but no other suspects were located inside. Property form the residence was found in the street.
A CHP Helicopter was requested and conducted a perimeter search of the adjacent neighborhoods for the outstanding suspect who fled on foot, but they did not detect anyone in the area matching his description.

Auto Burglary – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Luckys):
At 9:41 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect broke a window to the victim’s vehicle and rummaged through the interior; however, no loss was reported.

May 2nd

DUI – Cutting Blvd / San Pablo Ave:
At 12:10 am, an officer reports the arrest of a 65-year-old male during a traffic stop for driving while under the influence of alcohol. The man was later released from the police station with a citation.

May 3rd:

Warrant Arrest – Hillside Natural Area:
At 12:15 pm, an officer responded to the report of an unresponsive person in a tent. The subject was found to have a warrant for their arrest and to be in possession of a controlled substance. The man was arrested and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

DUI Arrest San Pablo Ave. / Manila Ave:
An officer contacted a 38-year-old San Diego man during a traffic stop and arrested him for driving under the influence of alcohol. The man was booked at the ECPD and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

May 4th:

Warrant Arrest – Hill / San Pablo Ave.
At 8:53 pm, an officer contacted a subject with a felony ECPD warrant. The man was arrested and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

May 5th:

May 6th:

Warrant Arrest – 11861 San Pablo Ave:
At 2:54 pm, an officer spotted a 49-year-old subject who was known to be wanted by the California Department of Corrections for violating the terms and conditions of his release. The parolee was detained in the Starbucks lot without incident and then booked into the Martinez Detention Facility.

May 7th

Commercial Burglary – 7230 Fairmount Ave (Harding Elementary):
An unknown suspect cut the padlock to a storage container and took a desk and wheel barrel. The crime occurred between 2:00 pm on May 6th to 7:00 am on May 7th.

Residential burglary – 1500 block Norvell St.
At 10:46 am, El Cerrito police officers responded to an alarm call at a residence. Officers discovered the door leading to the garage was pried open. An ECPD K9 was used to search the garage, but no suspects were located inside. Entry was not made into the primary residence. The incident occurred between 9:15 am to 10:45 am.

Brandishing a Weapon, Criminal Threats, Probation Violation, and Warrant Arrest – 10012 San Pablo Ave (Pic-n-Pac):
At 8:51 pm, an officer reports the arrest of a 41-year-old man after the officer observed the man threaten another individual with a knife. The man was also found to have a warrant for his arrest and was on probation. The man was later transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Battery – 5900 block of Cutting Blvd.
At 7:53 pm, an officer reports the victim was attacked by two unknown subjects who reportedly beat him with a cord.

May 8th

Auto Burglary – 3050 El Cerrito Plaza (parking lot)
An unknown suspect shattered the window to the victim’s vehicle and stole a laptop. The incident occurred sometime between 6:25 am to 6:30 am.

Theft of License Plates – 5300 block of Cypress Ave.
An unknown suspect stole the rear license plate to the victim’s 2016 Honda CRV. The theft occurred sometime between 8:00 pm on May 7th to 8:00 am on May 8th.

Theft of License Plates – 3200 block of Carlson Blvd.
An unknown suspect removed the rear license plate from the victim’s 2014 VW Jetta. The theft occurred sometime between 11:00 am on May 5th to 10:38 am May 8th.

Stolen Vehicle Report – 8600 block of Arbor Dr.
An unknown suspect stole the victim’s gold 1997 Nissan Maxima. The theft occurred sometime between 7:30 am on May 7th to midnight on May 8th.

Elder Abuse – 2400 block of Edwards Ave.
At 2:21 pm, an El Cerrito Community Service Officer reported that over the past two months, a suspect withdrew over $5,000.00 from the 73-year-old victim’s account. The suspect was living with the victim at the time of the theft but has since moved.

Shoplifting and Illegally Dispensing a Chemical Substance - 250 El Cerrito Plaza (Salon Centric):
At 3:33 pm, an unknown suspect entered the business and left with $150.00 worth of unpaid property. Before leaving, the suspect sprayed pepper spray inside the business. The suspect fled in an awaiting silver or gray, newer model Toyota Camry.

Domestic Battery – 1700 block of Arlington Blvd.
At 6:18 pm, an officer reports a woman was struck in the face by her significant other several days prior. The incident was documented, and a report will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for review.

Drunk in Public, Warrant Arrest – 3400 block of Carlson Blvd.
At 12:39 am, an officer reports the arrest of a 31-year-old man who was contacted after having been involved in a fight and was too intoxicated to properly care for himself. Additionally, the man had a warrant for his arrest and was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. While dealing with this incident, another officer reports the arrest of a 39-year-old man who was determined to have driven his vehicle while impaired by alcohol. The second man was later released from the police department with a citation.

May 9th

Robbery – BART Path at Fairmount Ave.
At approximately 11:37 am, an Albany High School student was walking southbound on the BART path behind Lucky when he was approached and surrounded by numerous juvenile suspects. One of the juveniles brandished a switchblade at the victim. The victim was punched, pushed to the ground and beaten. The suspects stole the victim’s shoes and a gold chain. The victim ran to school where he informed staff of the incident. The victim suffered a laceration above his right eye and scrapes to his knees.

Shoplifting – 2000 El Cerrito Plaza (Ross):
At 8:21 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect entered the business and concealed several pieces of women’s clothing and accessories inside a bag before exiting the store without providing payment.
