Narrative: | |||||
On May 16th, 2019, at about 4:11 PM, detectives from the Moorpark Police Department Investigations Unit were working in an undercover capacity in the shopping center of the Moorpark Marketplace located within the City of Moorpark. At that time, the Target Department Store, located within the marketplace, reported a theft in progress. Detectives contacted Zachary Colcord leaving the store. Colcord was apprehended and found to be in possession of stolen merchandise and burglar tools. He was also under the influence of a controlled substance. Subsequently, Colcord’s accomplice, Rachel Posternak, attempted to flee the area in a vehicle. Patrol deputies were able to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, and located approximately $3,700 worth of stolen merchandise inside of the vehicle as well as numerous illegal narcotics including heroin, methamphetamine, prescription pills, and drug paraphernalia. The investigation also revealed Colcord had stolen from several Target department stores earlier in the day and was planning to sell the stolen merchandise for currency and illegal narcotics. Both subjects were arrested for PC 490.4(a)(2) / Organized retail theft and numerous drug related charges. The Moorpark Police Department has a very close working relationship with the local businesses in the city and actively works joint investigations with them in an attempt to prevent organized retail theft crews from committing crimes within the city. Both subjects are in custody in the Ventura County Jail with bail set at $200,000. Their court date is pending. |
