An early morning collision on US 395 Highway near Luna Rd. resulted in two fatalities

INCIDENT: Fatal Traffic Collision
LOCATION: US 395 Highway/Luna Road, Victorville
SUMMARY:
On Saturday, May 18, 2019, at about 6:46 A.M., deputies from the Victorville Station and rescue personnel from the Victorville Fire Department responded to a two-vehicle traffic collision near the intersection of US 395 Highway and Luna Road. Upon arrival, deputies determined that a Honda sedan was traveling southbound on US 395 Highway and a silver Mercedes was traveling eastbound on Luna Road. For unknown reasons, the Honda driver entered the intersection on a red light and broadsided the silver Mercedes.
The drivers of the Honda and the Mercedes were declared deceased by Fire personnel. A passenger in the Mercedes suffered unknown injuries and was air lifted to a hospital.
US 395 Highway and Luna Road were closed in the area during the investigation and were re-opened at about 3:05 p.m.
