Wilmington Police arrest man, recover narcotics after foot pursuit
Wilmington Police have arrested a 37-year-old man on drug charges.
On May 22 at approximately 8:58 a.m., police were on proactive patrol in the 800 block of West 7th Street when they attempted to conduct a pedestrian stop on 37-year-old Tyrell Punter in relation to suspected drug activity. Upon the approach of officers, Punter fled on foot. He was taken into custody without incident after a short foot pursuit.
Police recovered the following that was in Punter’s possession:
- 25 bags of heroin
- 69 bags of crack cocaine
- 3.4 grams of marijuana
- $152 in currency
Punter has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute (2 counts)
- Possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 1 quantity
- Resisting arrest
- Possession of marijuana
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 20 and released on $9,050 secured bail.
