Arrest of 28 year old Dalton Cross for Auto Theft and Possession of Stolen Property

MEDIA RELEASE

WHAT: Arrest for Auto Theft and Possession of Stolen Property

WHERE: 200 Block of Stanley in the City of Arroyo Grande

WHEN: May 23, 2019

DEPARTMENT CONTACT: Lieutenant Brian Amoroso

On May 23, 2019 at approximately 9:30 am, investigators from the San Luis Obispo Police Department, San Luis Obispo County Auto Theft Task Force (SLOCATT) and the Arroyo Grande Police Department were conducting a joint investigation in the 200 block of Stanley in the City of Arroyo Grande. Investigators were searching for 28-year-old Dalton Lee Cross, who they believed was staying in area. Cross was suspected in several recent auto thefts in the City and County of San Luis Obispo. He also had multiple active felony warrants for his arrest for auto thefts and being a felon in possession of ammunition.

During the investigation, Cross attempted to evade law enforcement by running from the area of Stanley, through the Arroyo Grande Creek and into the adjacent neighborhoods. Cross began jumping fences into the back yards of several single-family residences while trying to escape. He was eventually captured in the 400 block of Garden where he was taken into custody without any further incident.

During a search of the residence where Cross had been staying, investigators recovered two vehicles which were reported stolen from the City of San Luis Obispo on May 22, 2019. A third stolen vehicle was recovered in the City San Luis Obispo. Additional stolen property from a County of San Luis Obispo case was also recovered from the residence. This investigation is on-going, and investigators are trying to determine any other crimes Cross may have been involved with. Anyone with information regarding additional crimes involving Dalton Cross is asked to call the law enforcement agency where the crimes occurred or Crime Stoppers.
