Flash Flood Watch until 07:00AM Saturday
Convection was beginning to develop along an outflow boundary in an area of instability. These storms will likely produce very heavy rain over already saturated soils which will lead to flash flooding. Additional chances of thunderstorms with heavy rain will be possible on the eastern edge of a thunderstorm complex which will develop west of the area this afternoon and move into the area late tonight. The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a
* Flash Flood Watch for portions of southeast Kansas and Missouri, including the following areas, in southeast Kansas, Bourbon, Cherokee, and Crawford. In Missouri, Barton and Vernon.
* Through Saturday morning
* Heavy rainfall on top of already saturated soils.
* Low lying areas and areas near rivers, creeks and streams will likely become flooded. Urban flooding will likely occur, especially where storms track over the same areas. This additional rainfall will exacerbate any ongoing flooding.
* AFFECTED AREAS: BOURBON ... CRAWFORD ... BARTON ... VERNON ... CHEROKEE
