Police Squad Hit by Suspected Drunk Driver

On 05-26-2019 at 2:41 am, Sergeant Holford III was traveling east bound on E. Court Street approaching S. Main Street. This intersection for his direction of travel has a flashing yellow light at this time of day. Without any warning Sergeant Holford’s vehicle was struck by a Chevy Silverado traveling south bound on Main Street. Main Street has a flashing red light this time of day. Sergeant Holford’s vehicle was rendered inoperable. The Silverado rolled over following the initial collision, and came to rest on its roof in the intersection.

Sergeant Holford exited his vehicle and checked on the occupants of the Silverado. Sergeant Holford and the occupants of the Silverado did not report any injuries. Sergeant Holford requested additional units respond. Per our policy he requested The Wisconsin State Patrol investigate the incident.

Wisconsin State Patrol responded and investigated the accident. The Trooper had suspicion the driver, Christopher A Huff was under the influence of an intoxicant. His investigation led to the arrest of Mr. Huff. The Wisconsin State Patrol is charging Mr. Huff with OWI first offense and, failure to stop at a red light.

While the patrol vehicle is no longer operable, Sergeant Holford is already back on duty.
