Flood Watch for the Tongue River in Custer County. Pay close attention to the forecasts for the next few days.
The National Weather Service in Billings has issued a Flood Watch for the Tongue River in Custer County.
This Flood Watch includes all locations downstream from the Tongue River Reservoir to the confluence with the Yellowstone River.

* At 1 PM Tuesday the stage was 5.1 feet.
* Flood stage is 10.0 feet.
* Forecast...The Tongue River at Miles City is expected to
keep rising this week. At this time, a crest is expected Saturday
afternoon. The current forecast keeps the crest under flood
stage. However, inflows into the Tongue River Reservoir are
uncertain at this time and it remains possible that the river may
approach or exceed flood stage. People with interests along the
Tongue River at Miles City should pay close attention to the forecasts for the next few days.
Two to four inches of rainfall fell over the Bighorn Mountains and
foothills since Monday. Upstream tributaries to the Tongue River
are reported to be bankfull or flooding. As this water works
downstream water levels along the Tongue are expected to rise and
produce flooding. Inflows into the Tongue River Reservoir are
expected to increase dramatically over the next 24 hours
but have some uncertainty at this time. Interested persons should
keep track of the latest forecasts as adjustments are likely.
