The National Weather Service in Billings has issued a Flood Warning for the Powder River in Custer and Powder Counties.
A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.
At 345 PM MDT, Powder River County emergency management reported the Powder River running bankfull Thursday afternoon, from rain and snow melt earlier in the week over the Bighorn mountains.
Water levels continue to rise upstream in Wyoming on the Powder River this afternoon. As this surge of water moves north, flooding of low lying areas adjacent to the river is expected through Saturday. Flooding may linger longer, especially in Custer County, as the surge of water works northward. Some locations that will experience flooding include:
Broadus, Moorhead, Powderville, Locate, and Mizpah.

- Take precaution around flood waters. Mover equipment and livestock to higher ground.
