Have you ever looked at your home like a burglar?  Is it obvious that no one’s home?  Do you secure your valuables?  Is your purse, wallet, or computer in the car?  It’s surprising how common it is for people to overlook the simple things that can be done to avoid or lessen your chances of being a victim.  Something as simple as closing the garage door, picking up your newspapers, and not leaving valuables in sight.  Bringing your trashcans in from the curb on trash day can let a potential burglar know that someone is home and taking active steps to protect their property.  The Walnut/Diamond Bar Sheriff’s Station is always looking for new ways to protect and educate local residents on what to look for and how to avoid becoming a victim.  One new approach we are using to educate local residents is the “WARNING NOTICE.”  These warning notices are being placed by deputies on homes and cars where one of our deputies have observed a safety concern that could potentially put your property at risk of criminal activity. This notice will be a courteous reminder to secure your property and to be vigilant about reporting any suspicious activity to the Walnut/Diamond Bar Sheriff’s Station at (909) 595-2264.
