Wilmington Police arrest juvenile after harassment, criminal mischief investigation
Wilmington Police have arrested a 12-year-old male following a harassment and criminal mischief investigation.
On April 13, a group of juveniles were leaning and sitting on a vehicle in the 1900 block of North Van Buren Street. When the resident who owned the vehicle asked the juveniles to move away from the vehicle, they initially left but then returned and jumped on the car, causing damage to the vehicle. The victim saw one of the juveniles, a 12-year-old male, return to his residence on May 9 and again on May 15, making threatening comments and causing the victim to fear for his safety.
On June 3, police received from a member of the community a photograph of the juvenile. Officers were able to obtain a positive identification and signed warrants for the juvenile. On June 5, police took the suspect into custody.
The 12-year-old male has been charged with the following offenses:
- Conspiracy (Third Degree)
- Terroristic Threatening
- Harassment
- Criminal Mischief
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and turned over to a parent on $3,500 unsecured bail.
