Domestic Violence Ends in Murder

On Tuesday June 4, 2019 at 4:48 P.M., Santa Barbara Police Officers were dispatched to a disturbance of the peace involving a female heard crying over the phone by the 911 dispatcher. It was determined that the call was placed from an apartment complex in the first block of South Soledad Street in the City of Santa Barbara.

When Officers arrived and approached a chaotic scene within an interior court yard, a male subject, now identified as Omar Alberto Leon, age 28, surrendered to arrest and was taken into custody.

An initial investigation found a deceased female inside an apartment. The suspect and victim, Lilia Munoz, age 29, shared the residence.

Multiple Patrol Officers and Detectives secured the scene to preserve evidence and commenced to questioning the many bystanders at the scene.

Leon was taken into custody and transported by Officers to the Police Station for questioning.

Leon was booked for murder in Santa Barbara County Jail during the early morning hours of June 5th.
