06-07-2019 WALDWICK COMMUNITY UPDATE

TRAFFIC ALERT  - Starting June 6, Franklin Turnpike in Ho-Ho-Kus is scheduled to be milled and paved. The work zone will start with milling of the roadway at the Ridgewood border. The milling will continue north on Franklin Turnpike on June 7, 10 and 11, ending at the Waldwick border.
 
The paving will start on June 14 at the Ridgewood border and continue north, The paving will conclude on June 17 at the Waldwick border.
 
On June 11 & 17Franklin Turnpike South will be CLOSED at Wyckoff Avenue with only access to the businesses in Waldwick. THERE WILL BE NO ACCESS TO HO-HO-KUS FROM WALDWICK BY WAY OF FRANKLIN TURNPIKE ON THESE DATES.
 
The roadway will be closed to all traffic within the work zone, detour signs will be posted to direct you around the construction. The work will start at 7:00 am and end at 5:00 pm.  The scheduled dates of the work may change depending on the weather.

REMINDER - COMMINGLED RECYCLING ONLY on Wednesday, June 5.  MUST BE CURBSIDE BY 6:00 am.  See attached RECYCLING 101 for details.

CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION - Our next event is scheduled for Sunday, June 23 starting at 5:00 pm at Waldwick High School with a Non-Denominational Service, followed by music, food trucks, face painting and more including a Fireworks Celebration at 9:00 pm.  Bring the whole family and enjoy a night out!

CAR WASH FUNDRAISER FOR EAGLE SCOUT PROJECT - Hello, my name is Justin Reilly and I'm a Life Scout in a Waldwick Boy Scout Troop working on earning my Eagle Scout rank. Please come and support my Eagle Scout project fundraiser. I will be holding a car wash at the American Legion Hall parking lot, 46 Franklin Turnpike, on June 9 from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. I would greatly appreciate all the support that you could give me in earning funds for my project!

2019 CONCERT SERIES at THE OVAL - Our first concert was postponed due to the weather but has been rescheduled for Monday, August 5 at 7:00 pm with "Garden State Radio".  This band is back by popular demand with their high energy performance.  Fun for the whole family.

WALDWICK SUMMER TENNIS PROGRAM - The Borough of Waldwick is proud to provide tennis lessons this summer at the Waldwick Tennis Courts in Veteran's Park. All grade levels (K-12) are welcome to sign up as programs are designed specifically for each age group. The Tennis Camp will run from June 24-August 2 Monday-Friday and you will be able to sign up for the full summer program or individual weeks.  Registration form attached.

WALDWICK MUNICIPAL POOL - The Municipal Pool is located at the corner of Hopper Avenue and Prospect Street, next to The Oval.  The pool is open on weekends only until June 22.  June 22 the pool will be open daily.  Pool hours are from 12:00 pm - 8:00 pm daily.  Weekends/Holidays from 10:00 am - 8:00 pm.  

Pool badges can be purchased at Borough Hall during normal business hours.  Pool badges will also be available at the pool office during regular operating hours.  First time registration must be done in person.   If you are renewing, please enter your tag number on the form.

Guest over the age of eighteen (18) years may obtain a guest permit for $10.00 per day per guest, provided that such guest is in the company of a holder of a seasonal tag.  

Guest under the age of eighteen (18) years may obtain a guest permit for $8.00 per day per guest, provided that such guest is in the company of a holder of a seasonal tag.

YOGA IN THE PARK SUMMER PROGRAM is back for its 3rd year!  Yoga in the Park combines three ancient practices - Yoga, Qi Gong, and Meditation. Classes include movement to help improve the body's flexibility and strength and meditation and breath work to help quiet the mind and release stress! Classes will be geared toward beginners,  with more advanced movement available for experienced yoga practitioners.  The meditation practice is perfect for all levels!
 
The program will take place on Sunday mornings from 9:15 am - 10:15 am during the summer months of July and August.  Eight (8) classes will be led by Waldwick resident and certified Yoga and Qi Gong Instructor, Karen Livanos-Centauro at Waldwick’s Borough Park Pavilion A, located at the Park entrance. Raconteur Radio: The Wizard of Oz
Thursday, June 13, 7:00 pm
For over a hundred years Frank Baum’s timeless tale of a magical land beyond the rainbow has given faithful service to the young and young at heart.  This special theatrical event is not to be missed. There will be mood lighting, and amazing sound effects while actors perform in front of a classic “fat boy” microphone. Generously funded by Atlantic Stewardship Bank.
 
COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING is scheduled for Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at 7:30 pm, Administration Building, Council Chambers, 63 Franklin Turnpike.
