Structure Fire 802 East Hermosa

At 8:56 p.m. the Santa Maria Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire as multiple calls were received by Santa Maria dispatch center. Four engines, one Truck Company, and a Battalion Chief responded. Firefighters arrived on scene and reported a working structure fire located in a bedroom and garage and progressing through the house. An aggressive interior attack coordinated with crews performing vertical ventilation on the roof brought the fire under control in about 20 minutes. All occupants safely exited the structure prior to Firefighters arriving on scene. The cause remains under investigation per SMR Fire Investigators. Assistance was provided by Cal Fire and Santa Barbara county fire as cover crews for additional emergency calls within the city. The Santa Maria Police Department and AMR ambulance also assisted with stand-by and traffic control. Two individuals were transported to the hospital by ambulance. A board up company secured the building and the property was turned over to the owner.
