The first significant heat wave of the summer season continues over Northern California today as strong high pressure remains over the region. Daytime highs will be in the triple digits for most valley locations this afternoon. Temperatures should drop into the 70s by late this evening.
* TEMPERATURE...Highs 100 to 107 degrees. Temperatures dropping mainly into the 70s by midnight.
* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke can occur due to prolonged exposure to hot temperatures. People most vulnerable include those who are spending lots of time outdoors...those who do not have air conditioning...young children...the elderly...and those with chronic ailments.
